Construction

Frame: Stress relieved Structural Ship Channel used throughout.

Tanks: 1/4" A 572 High Tensile Steel formed plate construction: Front, Sides, Bottom sections. Top-Rear Plate section attached to aggregate hopper are formed 3/16" ASTM A 572 High Tensile Steel. All corner seams are overlapped and welded inside and out. Structural channel stress-relieved tank bracing is also installed to reinforce the tanks interior and exterior weld joints.

Hopper: 3/16" ASTM A 572 High Tensile Abrasion Resistant Steel, with the hopper plating formed with the steel grain aligned with the flow of aggregate to the conveyor to reduce wear. There is a removable flush mount access panel on the hopper wall for easy access to the back side  of the engine for maintenance

Aggregate Vibrator: A hydraulically driven aggregate vibrator beam is suspended in the hopper to insure constant flow of aggregate to the mixer, regardless of moisture content. The beam is constructed of abrasion resistant ASTM A572 High Tensile Steel.

Engine

Power:

  • Cummins 4BT3.9 water cooled turbocharged diesel engine

  • Cooling System is designed for twice the cooling capacity required. The RoadSaver will NEVER run hot!

  • Mounted on rubber to reduce vibration to RoadSaver

  • World-Wide support from Cummins

  • The engine is mounted with plenty of clearance from the aggregate hopper and emulsion storage tank for ease of maintenance

  • Water cooled engines run quieter, than air cooled engines

  • This engine also generates the hot water used to heat the jacketed emulsion pump and emulsion diverter valve

Hydraulics

General Systems

  • True hydraulic fittings used throughout, bulkhead fittings used where necessary

  • Circuit design eliminates the possibility of back pressure in the hydraulic system

Pumps

  • Triple pump system on the RoadSaver II uses only premium quality RexRoth variable displacement piston hydraulic pumps.

  • These hydraulic pumps are load-sensing and pressure compensated to insure cool operation and fuel economy

  • Equalizer: The same high quality RexRoth pumps with two mounted on the engine bell housing and the third on the engine auxiliary drive.

RoadSaver II                                                        Equalizer

Reservoir

  • Each pump has it's own supply line, each with a magnetic suction strainer to remove all ferrous particles before the pumps

  • Reserve cooling capacity allows full production on the hottest days

  • The reservoir has two 10 micron return filters to keep the system hydraulic fluid free of contamination

  • Equalizer hydraulic reservoir has one 10 micron return filter

RoadSaver II                                                        Equalizer

All RoadSaver II and Equalizer Hydraulic Reservoirs have three Delivery lines and no common manifold to supply the hydraulic pumps with hydraulic fluid.

Emulsion Delivery System
  • A Blackmer positive displacement vane pump is used for long life and consistent output

  • Both the emulsion pump and the emulsion valve are heat jacketed and warmed by the Cummins engine for those cold morning starts.

  • The emulsion pump and aggregate conveyor drive are directly coupled to one hydraulic motor

  • Total Material Production: 4 Tons per Minute!!

Traction Master Conveyor System
  • CPM precision engineered, hydraulically driven, aggregate delivery system complete with RSII SuperBelt to provide dependability you can count on

  • The conveyor is started and stopped by a sealed hydraulically operated clutch

  • Total RoadSaver II Material Production: 4 Tons per Minute!!

Pugmill Mixing System
  • Reversible, Twin Shaft - Twin Drive Multi-Paddle pugmill, complete with hydraulic gate and diverter

  • Variable RPM speed control for all working conditions

  • All bearings are external for minimal maintenance

  • Digital RPM display at Operator Control Center

  • Replaceable carbide wear tips assure mixing uniformity and predictability

  • Easy access, slide-in, slide-out pugmill

  • "Blends" the material at lower speeds to reduce foaming of the slurry or MicroSurfacing mix before exiting mixer

  • Timing gears have water sprayer to keep build-up off gear teeth

  • Steel gate to stop material flow into the spreader box. No dripping here!!

Twin Drive Pugmill - "The Most Powerful Mixer in the Industry"

  • Both the RoadSaver II and the Equalizer come standard with a hydraulically controlled, abrasion resistant, high tensile steel diverter

  • Mounted directly to the steel gate outlet, the diverter accurately direct the flow of slurry seal or MicroSurfacing mixture into the spreader box via the Operator's joystick control

  • The diverter is hinged to allow easy access for cleaning

  • Located to allow adequate ground clearance for both the standard spreader box and the MicroSurfacing spreader box

Operator Control Center

An industry first. Twin Joy Sticks control the following functions: One button sequenced start/stop, engine throttle control, spreader box lift, box side shift and auger control, pugmill gate control, diverter left/right control and vibrator control. The ease and convenience of this advanced innovation make the RoadSaver II the Operator's Choice in Slurry Machines.

Automatic Sequencing System
  • The RoadSaver uses a state of the art programmable controller for One Button Start/Stop material batching.

  • All features are preset at the factory

  • Includes a programmer to adjust sequencing timers in the field

  • Complete system redundancy is built in through a fail-safe override system for all critical systems, insuring the ability to "finish the job"

  • Patterned after the design of aerospace control systems

Quality Assurance / Quality Control Panel

State of the art array of electronic sensors and digital displays provide the following system information:

  • Water Delivery in gallons/min (liters/min) plus totalizer

  • Aggregate delivery rate

  • Out-of-tolerance alarms

The system continuously monitors the RoadSaver's operation. Should electronic sensors detect any deviation from factory preset tolerances, an instantaneous signal will instruct the machine to initiate a shutdown or, if selected, alert the operator.
